Student Accepted Into VALOR ProgramĪnna Hoang, a senior BSN nursing student, has been accepted into the VALOR (Veterans Affairs Learning Opportunities Residency) Program, an honors program for select nursing students who have completed their junior year of a BSN program. But when someone works hard every day, and sees what they are capable of, yesterday seems easy. ![]() Nipper-Stevenson’s personal motto is “The only easy day was yesterday,” taken from the Navy SEALs, which means that every day, one needs to work harder than the last. Before starting nursing school, he was a police officer for 20 years and an emergency medical technician. He is an outspoken advocate for men’s health awareness and promotes nursing as a career choice for men. Nipper-Stevenson has been an advocate for promoting disaster preparedness by offering Stop the Bleed training and Narcan administration to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans community. He is an active member of the Emergency Nurses Association and plans to work in an emergency department at a local hospital after graduation. He serves as the Senior II Class Vice President and President of the LSUH-NO SON Student Nurses Association. Nipper-Stevenson is a 45-year-old New Orleans native and single parent of an 18-year-old son. The scholarship honors Butcher, who was known nationwide as a “boots on the ground” expert on emergency preparedness with special emphasis on hazmat and blast injuries. SNA President Receives LA ENA Tim Butcher ScholarshipĬolin Nipper-Stevenson, president of the School of Nursing’s Student Nurses Association, was awarded the Tim Butcher Educational Scholarship from the Louisiana Council of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). They spent the conference networking and learning the latest high-quality, evidence-based clinical information designed for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). In August 2022, a group of senior nurse anesthesia students, accompanied by Laura Bonanno, PhD, DNP, CRNA, Program Director for the Nurse Anesthesia Program and Professor of Nursing William Barras, DNP, CRNA, Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia David Kalil, DNAP, CRNA, Instructor of Clinical Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia and Jennifer Martin, DNP, CRNA, Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia, attended the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology’s Annual Congress in Chicago.
